Amy Jasperse, RPh, CDE

Amy is the only pharmacist Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) currently serving Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Monroe and Summers counties and is among a small group with this elite designation across West Virginia. Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy is one of only seven centers in West Virginia that is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. We offer private counseling that is close to home while bringing the latest in diabetes self-management education and diabetes care to the residents of the Greenbrier Valley and beyond.

Greenbrier Medical Arts Pharmacy offers a wide variety of programs and classes to promote healthy living for individuals with diabetes. Specialized services include:

  • Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Training
  • Gestational Diabetes – Comprehensive Self-Management Training
  • Meal Planning and Carbohydrate Counting
  • Blood Glucose Monitor Training
  • Insulin and Other Injectable Diabetes Medication Instruction
  • Diabetic Shoe Fitting and Custom Inserts available at North and South

Many of these services focus on the AADE7 Self-Care Behaviors™ for improved health status and greater quality of life. These include healthy eating, exercise, monitoring, medication, problem solving, healthy coping, reducing risks and understanding blood glucose and lipid goals. Single visits and on-going training are available for adolescents and adults. Those referred for multiple visits will also benefit from regular, on-going diabetes care support and subsequent visits include foot care techniques, eye, kidney and heart health, advanced meal planning, preventing complications and more.

Are you diabetic with one or more of the following conditions?

  1. Poor circulation
  2. Foot deformity
  3. Peripheral neuropathy with evidence of callus formation
  4. History of pre-ulcerative callus or history of foot ulceration
  5. History of partial or complete amputation of the foot

If you answer “yes” and have Medicare, then you qualify to receive a pair of shoes every year (Medicare will pay 80% after deductible) Shoes may also be covered by other insurance plans, such as PEIA.
